Claude Desktop for Linux
This project provides unofficial build scripts that repackage the official Windows Claude Desktop application to run natively on Linux without Wine or virtualization. The scripts produce installable packages for most major Linux distributions, including `.deb` files for Debian and Ubuntu via an APT repository at `pkg.claude-desktop-debian.dev`, `.rpm` files for Fedora and RHEL via DNF, AppImages for distribution-agnostic installs, an AUR package for Arch Linux, and a Nix flake with a dedicated FHS environment variant for NixOS users who need MCP server support. The resulting application connects to Claude through the standard Claude Desktop interface and supports full Model Context Protocol configuration through `~/.config/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json`. System integration features include a global hotkey (Ctrl+Alt+Space) that works on both X11 and Wayland via XWayland, plus system tray support. Linux users who want the Claude Desktop experience without running a separate operating system are the primary audience.
