Peon-ping is a notification tool that plays video game voice lines and displays on-screen overlay banners whenever an AI coding agent completes a task or requires user input. It integrates with Claude Code via hooks registered in `.claude/settings.json`, and also supports Cursor, Codex, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, and roughly twenty other agents through dedicated adapters. Sound packs draw from Warcraft III Peon dialogue, StarCraft's Kerrigan, Portal, Zelda, and others, and users can browse and select packs interactively at peonping.com. An included MCP server lets the agent itself choose which sound to trigger programmatically. Installation is available via Homebrew, a curl script for macOS and Linux, and a PowerShell installer for Windows and WSL2, with the WSL2 path handling audio backend differences between Windows 10 and Windows 11 24H2 automatically. The tool targets developers who work away from the terminal during long agent runs and need a reliable ambient signal rather than manually polling for completion.
