wechatDownload

WechatDownload is a desktop application for Windows and macOS that bulk-downloads articles from WeChat public accounts (Official Accounts) without requiring certificate installation. Users paste any article URL from a target account, open it inside WeChat's built-in browser to trigger automatic key extraction, and the tool then retrieves the account's full article history. Downloaded content can be saved as HTML, MHTML, Markdown, PDF, DOCX, or CSV, with embedded images, videos, and audio files preserved alongside article text. It also captures reader comments, comment replies, and collection (album) groupings, and can export engagement metrics such as read counts, likes, and shares to spreadsheets. A standout addition in version 4.4 introduced MCP and Skill integration, exposing functions for downloading articles and collections, retrieving account IDs, and batch-downloading via tool calls, which allows Claude and similar AI assistants to invoke the downloader programmatically. The primary audience is researchers, archivists, and developers who need to systematically collect and process WeChat public account content.
