Stack Builder solves a tedious problem: setting up Claude Desktop with several MCP servers means hand-editing JSON, juggling each server's command + args + env vars, and not breaking the existing config. The tool lets you click servers from the catalogue and downloads a merged JSON ready to paste at ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json (macOS) or %APPDATA%/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json (Windows).
Each server in the catalogue ships a tested config snippet — command, args, environment placeholders. The merge handles deduplication, sorts entries alphabetically, and warns about env vars you still need to fill in. No account or sign-up required. Generated configs are 100% local-first; nothing is stored server-side.
