Chrome extension to extract styles from any website and generate DESIGN.md files and design skills for AI based on TypeUI
This Chrome extension scrapes visual design tokens from any live website and converts them into structured markdown files that AI coding tools can use as design system references. After loading the unpacked extension in Developer mode, users trigger an auto-extract action that reads typography, colors, spacing, border radius, shadows, and motion values from the active tab. The output can be saved as either a DESIGN.md or SKILL.md file following the open-source TypeUI format, which organizes content into sections including Style Foundations, Accessibility (targeting WCAG 2.2 AA), Rules, Quality Gates, and Component Rule Expectations. These files are intended for use with Claude Code as design skills, alongside other AI coding environments like Google Stitch and Codex. A curated library of pre-built design skills is available at typeui.sh/design-skills. Front-end developers and designers who want to replicate or document an existing site's visual system for AI-assisted development will find the most utility here.
