MCP Server Security Check: Is This MCP Server Safe?

The servers below are popular in the Claude ecosystem and currently carry at least one security flag from our scoring engine. A flag is a signal, not a verdict. A missing license or a long stretch without commits does not mean a project is malware; it means there is something you should weigh before connecting the server to your data. In our State of MCP Security 2026 report, 25% of the 2,019 servers audited carried at least one flag, so this is a common situation, not a blacklist.

The most frequent flags are easy to interpret. No license (12% of audited servers) means you have no legal clarity on how you may use or modify the code. Unmaintained (20%) means the repository has gone without recent commits, so security fixes in dependencies may never arrive. A curl|bash install instruction asks you to run a remote script with your shell privileges, which deserves a manual read first. Suspicious README patterns flag wording that resembles known prompt injection or credential-harvesting techniques and trigger a closer AI review.

Flags are not permanent. Trust Scores are recalculated nightly, so a maintainer who adds a license, resumes commits or replaces a risky install method will see the flag clear on the next scan. If you maintain one of these projects and believe a flag is wrong, fix the underlying signal or contact us, and the listing will update automatically.
