# Fundz Agent API — buying signals API for GTM agents

**Every signal links to the filing it came from.**

Fundz is a **buying signals API** and **MCP server for sales agents**: dated funding rounds and
SEC 8-K events, each one carrying the source document. It is a **company event API** rather than a
contact database — the **trigger data for AI SDRs** that tells an agent *why now*, with a link a
human can open before anything gets sent.

Two lanes, both primary-filed:

- **SEC 8-K API** — material events filed with the SEC, linked to the filing on `sec.gov`.
- **Form D funding data API** — private-offering filings parsed from EDGAR, plus funding
  announcements, with the offering amount normalised to USD.

Nothing is inferred. If Fundz has no dated event for a company in your window, it says so instead
of guessing — an empty answer is a real answer, and it is the reason the evidence is quotable.

```bash
curl -s https://api.fundz.net/v1/agent/why_now \
  -H "X-Fundz-Key: $FUNDZ_KEY" \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  -d '{"domain":"databricks.com"}'
```

```json
{
  "company": { "name": "Databricks", "domain": "databricks.com", "resolution_confidence": 1.0 },
  "evidence": [
    { "type": "funding", "date": "2026-08-12",
      "summary": "Databricks raised $1B Series K.",
      "source_url": "https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1587468/.../primary_doc.xml",
      "source_kind": "sec_form_d" }
  ]
}
```

## What it returns

Dated evidence with a source URL on every item, the resolved company, and a
`resolution_confidence` score so you can refuse to act on an uncertain match. Usage comes back in
`X-Fundz-Units` headers on every response.

## What it does not return

**No contacts. No emails. No phone numbers.** Fundz answers *which companies just did something
worth calling about*, not who to call. Pair it with your own contact source.

It is also not a prediction product. `predicted_next` is explicitly experimental — treat `lift` as
a ranking aid, not a validated rate.

## Pricing

| | |
|---|---|
| Metered | **$0.06 per unit**, **$25/month minimum** |
| Platform 50k | **$1,500/month** — 50,000 units included |
| Platform 150k | **$3,000/month** — 150,000 units included |
| Platform 400k | **$5,000/month** — 400,000 units included |

Unit costs: `why_now` 1 · `events_for_icp` 1 · `predicted_next` 1 · `watchlist_diff` **0.1 per
company checked**. A 400-company book costs 40 units to diff.

## Quickstart

```bash
export FUNDZ_KEY=fundz_ak_live_...                       # 1. your key, from the welcome email
BASE=https://api.fundz.net/v1/agent                      # 2. base URL
curl -s $BASE/why_now      -H "X-Fundz-Key: $FUNDZ_KEY" \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' -d '{"domain":"stripe.com"}'          # 3. one company
curl -s $BASE/events_for_icp -H "X-Fundz-Key: $FUNDZ_KEY" \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  -d '{"industries":["software"],"lookback_days":30}'                        # 4. an ICP
curl -s $BASE/watchlist_diff -H "X-Fundz-Key: $FUNDZ_KEY" \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  -d '{"domains":["stripe.com","databricks.com"],"since":"2026-08-01"}'      # 5. your book
```

## MCP

Streamable HTTP at **`https://api.fundz.net/v1/agent/mcp`**. `initialize` and `tools/list` need no
key; `tools/call` does.

⛔ That is a subpath, not the REST prefix. `/v1/agent` reads its last path segment as a tool name,
so an MCP handshake posted there is answered `404 unknown tool 'agent'`.

**Claude Desktop** — `claude_desktop_config.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "fundz": {
      "url": "https://api.fundz.net/v1/agent/mcp",
      "headers": { "X-Fundz-Key": "fundz_ak_live_..." }
    }
  }
}
```

**Cursor** — `.cursor/mcp.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "fundz": {
      "url": "https://api.fundz.net/v1/agent/mcp",
      "headers": { "X-Fundz-Key": "fundz_ak_live_..." }
    }
  }
}
```

## FAQ

### What is a buying signals API?

An API that returns *events* — a company raised money, filed an 8-K, changed leadership — rather
than static firmographics. The event is the reason to reach out, and the date is what makes it
timely. Fundz returns the event plus the document it came from.

### How is this different from Crunchbase or PitchBook?

Those are databases you search. This is an API an agent calls per company, per run, and every item
comes back with a source URL. Fundz is also priced per unit rather than per seat.

### Can I get contact data from the Fundz API?

No. Fundz has no contacts, emails, or phone numbers. It tells you which companies just did
something; you bring your own contact source.

### What SEC data does the Form D funding data API cover?

Form D private-offering filings parsed from EDGAR — filing entity, offering amount normalised to
USD, state, and a `sec.gov` source URL per record — alongside funding announcements from news.

### Does the SEC 8-K API link to the actual filing?

Yes. Every 8-K item carries the `sec.gov` document URL. That is the point: a rep can open the
filing before quoting it to a prospect.

### How do I use this as trigger data for AI SDRs?

Call `watchlist_diff` with your account book on a schedule and act only on companies that come
back changed. It bills 0.1 units per company checked, so a 400-company book costs 40 units — the
same whether you send it whole or in chunks.

### Is there an MCP server for sales agents?

Yes — this one. Streamable HTTP, four tools, works in Claude Desktop, Cursor, and any client that
speaks MCP over HTTP. Discovery (`initialize`, `tools/list`) is keyless so a client can inspect it
before you hand over a credential.

### What happens when there is no event?

You get an empty `evidence` array and a `last_event` telling you when the most recent one actually
was. Fundz does not manufacture a reason to call.

### How large can a watchlist_diff request be?

400 domains per request. The limit is the edge, not the API: bodies over 8,192 bytes are refused
before they reach us.
