# Dropshipping Mastery — Global

Flagship skill for building a profitable dropshipping operation in US/EU/global markets. Covers the full pipeline from product research to scaling — with realistic 2025-2026 tools, prices, and benchmarks.

## 1. For newbies — Read this first

**What is dropshipping?** A retail model where you sell products online without holding inventory. When a customer orders, you forward the order to a supplier (AliExpress, CJ, etc.) who ships directly to the customer. You keep the margin between supplier price and your retail price.

**Difference vs other models:**
- **Amazon FBA**: You buy inventory upfront, ship to Amazon warehouses. Higher capital, faster shipping, brand-locked to Amazon ecosystem.
- **Branded e-commerce**: You manufacture or white-label, hold inventory, build long-term brand. Highest capital, highest margins, durable moat.
- **White label / private label**: Custom-branded products from suppliers, often with MOQ. Middle path between dropshipping and full brand.
- **Dropshipping**: Lowest capital, fastest iteration, lowest margins per unit, weakest moat.

**When to choose dropshipping:**
- Low starting capital ($500-2K to begin)
- Want to validate product-market fit before investing
- Comfortable iterating fast (test products in days, not months)
- OK with thin margins (15-30% net) and reliance on suppliers

**When NOT to dropship:**
- You're building a long-term brand with quality differentiation
- Your market expects 2-3 day shipping (premium fashion, urgent gifts)
- Product requires customization or quality control
- You need defensible IP or proprietary tech

**Realistic expectations:** 90% of dropshippers fail in the first 6 months. The top 10% who survive iterate fast, master ad creative, and reinvest profits. Successful operators do $10K-$1M+/month, but most plateau at $1K-5K/month before quitting. The lever is creative quality + product selection — not "secret hacks."

## 2. Information collection

Ask up to 4 questions before generating output:
1. **Niche**: What product category interests you? (e.g., pet, beauty, home, fitness, gadgets) Or "I need help picking."
2. **Supplier preference**: Fast shipping (Spocket/Zendrop, premium cost) or cheapest (AliExpress, slow shipping)?
3. **Ad platform priority**: Facebook/Instagram, TikTok, both, or unsure?
4. **Monthly ad budget**: <$500 (validate only), $500-2K (test + scale), $2K+ (aggressive scale)?

## 3. Product research — winning product criteria

**Winning product = product that converts cold traffic profitably.** Not "good product" — converts on impulse with paid ads.

**5 criteria scorecard (score 1-5 each, target 20+ to test):**

- **Minea** ($49-129/mo) — Facebook + TikTok ad spy. Filter by ad spend, dates, country. Best all-around tool.
- **PiPiAds** ($77-155/mo) — TikTok-focused ad spy. Strong for short-video creative inspiration.
- **AdSpy** ($149/mo) — Comprehensive Facebook + Instagram historical archive.
- **TikTok Made Me Buy It** (free) — Search hashtag on TikTok for organic viral products.
- **Reddit r/Dropshipping** (free) — Community trends, supplier reviews.
- **AliExpress Top Ranking** (free) — Sort by orders descending in your niche.
- **Sell The Trend** ($40-99/mo) — AI product recommendations + trend graphs.
- **Trends.co** — Macro consumer trends for niche selection.

**Validation framework before testing:**
1. Product passes 5-criteria scorecard (20+/25 score)
2. At least 3 active competitors running ads >30 days (Minea check)
3. Supplier has 1000+ orders + 4.5+ rating on AliExpress
4. Margin math works: cost $X → sell 3-5X → ad CPP <$15 → break-even achievable

## 4. Supplier sourcing — AliExpress vs alternatives

**Detailed notes:**
- **AliExpress** — Use for product validation (cheap to test). Risks: 15-30 day shipping = customer complaints, variable quality, occasional supplier disappearance. Use **Standard Shipping** or **AliExpress Shipping** (faster) when available.
- **CJ Dropshipping** — Middle ground. Has US warehouse for fast shipping on hot products, plus China warehouse for new items. Offers branding services (custom packaging, inserts) once you scale. ~$0 platform fee.
- **Spocket** — US/EU-based suppliers. Shipping in 3-7 days. Premium pricing offsets lower margins, but reduces refunds and chargebacks dramatically. $39-99/mo platform fee.
- **Zendrop** — US warehouse + automation focus. Strong for US-only operations targeting fast shipping. $49-79/mo plus product cost.
- **AutoDS** — Automation-first platform with multi-supplier support.
